Use Manual DNS if your domain is managed outside Cloudflare (or you prefer to configure DNS records yourself). This method connects your domain by adding the required DNS records in your domain provider, then verifying them inside LanderLab.
Before you start
- You must have access to your domain’s DNS settings (GoDaddy, Namecheap, etc.).
- Only admins can add domains in LanderLab.
- Manual DNS typically requires a subdomain (example:
lp.yourdomain.com), not a root domain (yourdomain.com).
Step 1: Open Domains in Settings
In your LanderLab dashboard, go to Settings.
In the top tabs, click Domains.
You’ll see the Domains list with a button to add a new domain.
Step 2: Click Add Domain (Admins Only)
Click Add Domain (top-right).
If you don’t see this button or can’t click it, you likely don’t have admin permissions.
Step 3: Choose Manual DNS
In the Add New Domain window you’ll see two options:
- Cloudflare (Recommended) – automatic DNS management
- Manual DNS – you configure DNS records yourself
Select Manual DNS.
Step 4: Fill in Domain Details
Complete the fields shown:
- Domain Provider
Select your provider (example: GoDaddy, Namecheap, etc.). - Subdomain
Enter the subdomain you want to use (example:lp). - Domain
Enter your main domain (example:yourdomain.com). - Workspace
Choose where the domain should be available:- All Workspaces → any workspace can publish to this domain (including future workspaces)
- Or select a specific workspace (if available in your setup)
- Click Add Domain.
Important note about root domains
Some providers don’t support CNAME records on the root domain (yourdomain.com).
That’s why Manual DNS usually requires a subdomain like:
✅ lp.yourdomain.com
✅ www.yourdomain.com
If you want to use the root domain (yourdomain.com), you have two options:
Switch the connection type to Cloudflare (recommended for root domains), or
Use a subdomain (like www) and redirect the root domain to it from your provider.
Step 5: Add the DNS Records (CNAME + TXT)
After clicking Add Domain, LanderLab will open the Domain Verification window and show
Step 1: Add the following DNS records.
You will typically see two records:
- CNAME (for the subdomain routing)
- TXT (for domain verification)
Add them in your domain provider:
- Log in to your domain provider.
- Open DNS Management / Zone Editor for your domain.
- Create the records exactly as shown in LanderLab:
- Match the Type (CNAME / TXT)
- Match the Host/Name
- Match the Value/Target exactly
Tips:
Don’t include https:// anywhere.
If you already have a CNAME/TXT with the same host, you may need to edit or remove the old one to avoid conflicts.
Step 6: Click Refresh to Verify
- Go back to the Domain Verification window in LanderLab.
- Click Refresh.
If the records are correct and DNS has started propagating, the verification step will progress.
Step 7: Add the Final SSL Record (HTTPS)
After the first two records are verified, LanderLab will prompt the next step:
“Once you’ve added the 2 records above wait for a few minutes and click ‘Refresh’. A final SSL record will then appear here…”
What to do:
- Wait a few minutes.
- Click Refresh again.
- A final SSL DNS record will appear.
- Add that SSL record to your domain provider DNS (same process as before).
- Return to LanderLab and click Refresh one more time.
Once the SSL record is verified, HTTPS will be enabled.
Step 8: Confirm Status is Active
After adding all required DNS records (including the SSL record):
- Go back to Settings → Domains.
- Click the Refresh icon at the top of the Domains page.
- If needed, refresh your browser page as well.
- Locate your domain in the list.
- Confirm that the Status shows Active.
Common issues
Still Pending?
DNS propagation can take from a few minutes up to 24–48 hours depending on the provider.
Wrong Host format?
Some providers want just lp, others want lp.yourdomain.com. Follow your provider’s DNS UI conventions, but keep the intent identical.
CNAME not allowed on root domain?
Use a subdomain (recommended) or connect using Cloudflare.
