Working with Webhooks

Webhooks are a powerful way to connect and automate data exchange between applications. To help you better understand how webhooks work, we’ll start with a short explanation about what webhooks are and how they function, and then delve into the steps to configure and work with webhooks in your LanderLab account.

What is a Webhook and How Does It Work?

At its core, a webhook is a method of communication between two applications. It’s like a virtual messenger that alerts one application when a specific event occurs in another application. Here’s how it works:

Event Occurs: An event takes place in an application, such as a form submission on a LanderLab landing page.

Webhook Trigger: The application with the event (the sender) sends a signal, known as a webhook, to another application (the receiver) that has been configured to listen for these signals.

Data Exchange: The webhook contains information about the event, such as the form data. The receiving application processes this data and takes appropriate actions.

Example: Consider having a lead generation landing page for which you want to send the lead information to a 3rd party application as soon as it is submitted on your lead form. By having Landerlab webhooks configured for that landing page, you will be able to send the lead information to the third-party application immediately after the lead form has been submitted.

How to Add a Webhook Integration

Follow the steps below to learn more about how to properly set up a webhook integration on your landing page.

Before you begin: Make sure to consult the documentation and references of the 3rd party system that will receive the lead information about the HTTP Methods, HTTP Headers, available fields or any additional information that will help you achieve a smooth working webhook integration with Landerlab.

  1. Go to Landing Pages.
  2. Locate and click the landing page to which you want to add a webhook integration.
  3. Click on the Integrations tab, then click on Add Integration.
  4. From the list of available integrations click on Add Webhook.
  5. Add a Name and the URL for your webhook integration, then click Next.
  6. Specify the HTTP Method and any HTTP Headers your webhook integration needs, then click Next.
  7. Map your form fields with the available fields provided by the 3rd party application that will receive the lead information via webhooks, then click Next.
  8. Optionally you may add any additional fields that you may need, for example: the landing page name or something similar, then click on Add Webhook.
